A Beautifully Hand-crafted Kitchen from Colin Browne Custom Furniture

“Colin Browne Custom Furniture”

Colin Browne Custom Furniture produces handmade furniture to our customers exact requirements. We can help with advice on designs, work from pictures and sketches and match existing furniture in your home.

From our workshop in the beautiful coastal Gaeltacht of An Rínn, in West Waterford, we have been producing quality bespoke furniture, using traditional methods, to our customers requirements, from a single shelf to a complete room fit-out, since 2001.

We use only the finest selection of hardwoods, Oak, Maple, Walnut, Sycamore etc., and all wood is sourced from a local merchant, or we can use real-wood veneered panels. We also finish pieces to a high standard in any painted colour you request.

“Living and working in the Ring Gaeltacht in West Waterford, I operate from a small workshop, which allows me to be involved in 100% of the process of each project. I have been involved in furniture making for the past 25 years and customer satisfaction is assured at all times.”

The Custom Furniture Production Process

Step One

When you contact me regarding a quote for some furniture, the first step is to arrange a suitable appointment for me to call to discuss your requirements, take measurements and choose the finish of the furniture, materials to be used, type of glass if needed, handle type and hinges etc.

Once I have the relevant information, I can produce a set of drawings and a quote and post them, or email them, to you within 7 working days. Remember, the drawings and quote are on a “No Obligation” basis, but if you decide not to proceed with the order, I would appreciate a quick call or email telling me so, that way I can amend my records accordingly.

When you receive the drawings etc., you can view them at your leisure and call me should you have any queries regarding the design or price, no matter how trivial you may think it is. If the design and price is to your satisfaction , we can begin the process of making the furniture you require.

Step Two

Once we have a definite order from you, I then choose the high grade materials and begin the process of making your furniture from a full scale drawing. All of the hardwoods we use are kiln-dried to the correct moisture content and purchased in a Boule form, meaning cut from the same tree as this ensures a closer grain and colour match for the same piece of furniture.

Once the unit is assembled, we then fine sand it and prepare it for the finish required. If the wood requires a stain to be applied this is done first, then 2no. base coats and one top coat of clear waterbased lacquer, to give that smooth flat finish.

Step Three

Once the finish is applied, it’s time to fit the chosen hinges, drawers and glass where required, then after careful inspection the unit is wrapped and ready for delivery.

A quick call to arrange a suitable time for delivery.

The whole process from home visit to delivery takes 6 – 8 weeks.

Please Note:

All of our orders require a deposit of 50% before a project can commence, due to the fact that each piece is custom made for you. The balance would then be payable on delivery and after your satisfaction was assured.
